D. Stuart course policies
- Requests for special consideration for missed exams, due to circumstances beyond your control, must be made in writing by email before the exam date. Missed exams will be excused only in the case of documented illness, death in the family, or unavoidable circumstances of similar severity.
Documentation demonstrating the validity of the circumstances should be submitted by email.
Excused exam makeups will be done by an individualized oral examination.
- Each student is allowed to turn in one homework late by one day
without penalty at some point during the quarter.
If/when you want to use your late homework pass,
just email the instructor and TA a one-line statment "I am using my
one-day extension pass on homework #N".
- If you turn in a homework or lab late, without use of an extension,
the grade will be reduced by 25% per day.
You don't need to ask for permission to be late,
but when you turn in a late homework,
email the instructor and TA so they will
know to go collect the late homework.
- Cheating in any form is not acceptable and may result in severe
consequences. Don't gamble with your degree that way.
You are encouraged to work together on homeworks because
discussing the different ways to solve the problems is a good
learning experience.
However, you need to then do the work yourself.
Directly copying solutions from another student, or from an online resource,
qualifies as cheating.
- Students registered with DSP must provide
the necessary requests at least one week before each exam or quiz.
